the team over at human element hired me to be a director, cinematographer, and editor for the videos in this reebok crossfit marketing campaign. the idea was to be quick and efficient with minimal resources while still capturing beautiful images. kind of a guerrilla-style video shoot to match the no boundaries ethos of the crossfit world.

crossfit is a big part of reebok. most of their videos for this sport are lifestyle or even doc style. we decided to change things up and focus on one move and the strength it takes to make it happen.

to keep things lean, we shot with the canon c300 mark one. i love working with high definition formats and cameras like the phantom, alexa, and red camera but sometimes it just takes one good camera for the perfect shot. to create the right mood, i killed all the house lights to get rid of the ugly orange and then rigged a kino light above the talent. for an extra touch, we swapped the bulbs in the kino light to be 50/50 warm and cold temperature.

judge for yourself, but i think we did a pretty wicked job at capturing an image with a minimal camera and one light. check it out!
