what's more christmas-y than shooting a commercial at the griswold's house from national lampoon's christmas vacation? i got to work with my pal rj shaughnessy and the buds at portfolio one as the director, editor, and cinematographer for this one. it took a full week of pre-production to capture this fun abercrombie shoot at the warner brothers ranch outside of los angeles. the best part was getting those christmas movie details right, like rigging a massive amount of christmas lights for that clark griswold flip-the-lights-on supernova scene.

abercrombie had an alexa mini ready and waiting for me back at their headquarters in ohio and i added in a 16mm canon scoopic for fun. to get that “hey it's the moon!” look, we stuck a helium balloon up in the sky for the right lighting. inside, we skirted some LED mats to make a soft lightbox and i couldn't have done any of this without my nimble ninja team of six (it was just me, my 1st AC, a gaffer, a key grip, and a grip). on top of the video content, we were also shooting strobes as part of the huge still shot list.

big shoutout to killer propmaster steve halterman for making this house a home and to creative director/genius joanna ewing for letting me have a blast directing, filming, and editing this one.
